Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Miller Verner have announced the marriage of their daughter, Mary Frances, to Virgil Reid Updike, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Updike, of Washington/. The wedding took place Thursday, June 14, at the Baptist Parsonage, Flint Hill,, with the Rev. M. E. Sliger, officiating. After* the wedding ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Updike left for a wedding trip to Welch, W. Va., to visit Judge Ira Partlow, uncle of the bridegroom, and then to Charleston, West Virginia.
Upon their return they will be at home at their apartment in the home of Miss Margaret Compton.
Mr. Updike is a graduate of Washington High School and Strayer Business College. He is a veteran of World War II, serving overseas for four years.
Mrs. Updike is a graduate of Washington High School and attended Mary Washington College at Fredericksburg.
