Bible School Holds
Commencement Exercises
At the regular fourth Sunday evening aervices, Washington Baptist church, the commencement for Vacation Church School iwas held, June 24.
A large per cent of the 86 enrolled during the previous week were present. The boys end girls participated in their service with hymns, scripture reading, prayers, responses, and special music. The beginner class san "Happy Day” and the primary group gave “Father, We Thank Thee” as a special number. The junior class offered “He Loves Me” and “He Sends the Rainbow,” while the intermediate group gave the hymn, “O, Jesus, I Have Promised.”
The service included the pledges to the American and Christian flags and to the Bible. Two large silk flags added color to the worship service. The offering taken
totaled 112.28. Each boy and girl was given a certificate of Vacation Church Attendance. Fifteen adults on the faculty gave freely of their services and time.
Another feature of the evening was the display of handwork. The main articles were, beginners, paper cut-out church; primary, Bible picture books; juniors, Bible book warks in leather; intermediates, “Favorite Bible Verse” autograph book in wood.
The service was concluded with a sermon for children taken from the parable of the "Foolish Rich Man.”

Waring—Chapman
The marriage of Miss Betty Jane Chapman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Vance Chapman, Jr., to Burnet Lewis Waring, son of Mr. and Mrs. William George Waring of West Point, took place Saturday afternoon, June 23, in Westhampton Methodist church. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Harry Eaton, assisted by the Rev. James Lincoln of St. John’s Episcopal church at West Point.
The bride is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Chapman of Sperryville.
Miss Patricia Forbes of Front Royal, a cousin of the bride, was a member of the wedding party, and David Vance Chapman, III, was a groomsman.
A reception was held at. the Officers Club, Richmond, after which Mr. and Mrs. Waring left for a southern wedding trip.
