“No gentleman would insult me,” and that is true.. On many* occasions we have all said tactless things that wo did not mean in the manner in which they were blurted out. The minute the words were spoken, we knew they were conveying a meaning we had nob intended. The only recourse is to hope the fellow will understand the way we meant the word—or phrase—and overlook the careless manner of the wording.
