Will Address Sheepmen
W. S. Bellfield, farmer, breeder, and president of the National Southdown Sheep Breeders Association, will address Rappahannock sheepmen this morning at 10 o’clock at Rappahannock High School, Washington! Mr. Bellfield will discuss his “Sheep Pasture Program.”
Other successful farmers to be on the program, Thursday, «June 28, will be C. C. Funkhouser of White Post, a past-president of Valley - Northern Virginia Sheep Breeders Association, who in addition to his purebred Hampshire breeders program, feeds out each winter a sizeable number of market lambs. Mr. Funkhouser (will discuss his “Fat Lamb Feeding Program.”
Other highlights of the “Sheepman’s Day” will be: a discussion of a Disease Control by Owen Thomas of Round Hill, who also is a farmer-breeder and director of the United Wool Growers Association; demonstrations by 4-H boyn on treating for foot rot, drenching, and preparation of ram paint.
An explanation of Ewe Efficiency Records on a local flock will also be made and will be proceeded by a contest to estimate which ewes in the flock produced the highest and lowest groee income with cash awards to the winners. (
Refreshments will be served.
