GETS ^LITTLE RESPONSE
As evidenced by attendance at the called special town meeting in Washington Tuesday evening, the townsfolk must be well pleased with the government as being conducted by the ladies and have no suggestions. The purpose of the called meeting was to have town citizens place their requests for appropriations in the tentative town budget for the coming fiscal year beginning September 1»
No definite requests werermade.
Charlie Jenkins appeared before the ladies of the council to ask for aid in re-activating the fire company, stating that insufficient meetings were held and interest was poor. The ladies did not feel that this came under their duties but agreed to be of any assistance they could.
Mrs. Jessie H. Cox commented on the splendid work done by the ladies’ government and the excellent handling of funds and accomplishments during their first year in office.
