I give up! Every time I think I’ve collected the wildest, most impossible tale yet heard somebody has to tell one bigger!

With the concert series breaking forth in the county, all of us are becoming very music-conscious. I heard a youngster the other day describing a choir she had heard sing. “They sang with much feeling,’’ quoth the youngster, “and the organist played with feeling. (Long pause.) The organist was feeling for the notes, and the choir was feeling for the notes; the only trouble was they weren’t feeling in the same direction.”

“Whenever I go to a new town or city,” said one of the local citizens the other day, “I always look in the telephone directory to see if there is anyone with my name living there.”

“Has it ever found you any new cousins?” was the query.

“Well, no, not exactly. I found one, once, though, with my name. His name was emblazoned across the front of a large building, so I thought he must be quite prosperous, and it might <fo some good to look him up. I started. The elevator boy kept talking about that about-to-be-newly-found relative of mine, and I noticed he used the past tense. ‘He was a fine man’, etc., was about the jist of the conversation, with a funereal tone.

“Is he dead?” was the question.
