iFire Co. Gives Supper

Th« Ladies Auxiliary to the Rappahannock Fire Company will hold a plate super on the Bank lot, Saturday, August 18„ from 5 to 7 p.m.

The menu consists of fried chicken, potato salad, tomatoes, corn pudding, pickle, hot rolls, apple pie, coffee. Price $1. For reservation, call Mrs. Wade H. Massie, Jr., and Miss Mary Jenkins.

In conection with the plate supper, there will also be held a Blindfold White Elephant Sale. Each wrapped package will be sold for 25 cents. For donations to this sale, please contact Mrs. Jessie H. Cox at Washington, Mrs. Galley Smith at Flint Hill, or Mrs. Charles Green at Amissville. Auxiliary Met Monday

The regular meeting of the Rap. pahannock Ladies Auxiliary was hold in the Fire House Monday, August fl, with Mrs. W. H. Massie, Jr., presiding. There were nine regular members present, with four new members, and one visitor.

Mrs. Wade Pullen, Mrs. Galley Smith, Mrs. M. R. Bradford, Jr., and Mrs. Charles Bruce .were welcomed as new members. Miss Dottie Davis was the welcome guest.

Plans were made for the plate •upper to be held August 18.

Miss Ruth Stevens served delicious home-made ice cream.

Slaughter, Wayland Win

In Primaries

Francis W~. Slaughter, a native of Rappahannock county, received a 800 majority vote over three other candidates in the Democratic primary Tuesday, for the office of Sheriff of Warren county.

B. Hood Wayland; also a native of Rappahannock, was the success, ful candidate for Sheriff in Culpeper county in Tuesday’s primary with a .vote of 2-1 over one opponent.

F. W. Slaughter is the son of Mrs. Pauline Slaughter, and is a nephew of A. J. Slaughter of Washington. Hood Wayland is from the Woodville neighborhood.

The county can now send out notices to counties: if you have no Sheriff, call on Rappahannock. We seem to be furnishing them to adjoining counties.
