Charles B. Wood Named
To FHA Committee
Charles B. Wood of Flint Hill was appointed the first of July to the FHA committee of Rappahannock county, B. F. White, local supervisor for the agency, said recently. The appointment was made by R. O. Delano, Richmond, state director.
The new committeeman, along with his brother, owns and operates a large orchard as well as being a general and livestock farmer in the Flint Hill vicinity. They also operate a lafge packing plant at Flint Hill.
His experience in farming, Mr. White said, fits him well for his new assignment in aiding other farmers to do the same. He was a former county agent of Madison county, as well as supervisor for ttye Farmers Home Administration’s predecessor agency, the Farm Security Administration, before going into the farming and orchard business with his brother.
Mr. Wood will serve on the committee for three years.
All applications for Farmers Home Administration credit must be approved^ by the county committee before loans can be made. When a real estate loan is being considered to buy, enlarge or develop a farm or to improve housing and farm buildings, the committee also determines how much the farm is worth as security for the loan.
