"Cold Hill” Changed
To "Headwaters Farm”
E. G. Howes, Jr., has announced that his home near Huntjy has been named “Headwaters Farm," because it lies at the headwaters of the Rappahannock River, At Chester Gap, just above the farm, rises a tiny stream, and on “Headwaters Farm” several other small streams join it to begin the river that becomes the “Mighty Rappahannock” by the time it reaches Ferdericksburg. *
“Headwaters Farm,” known locally as the Downing Place or “Cold Hill,” is actually in Fauquier county, the large white house and parts of the farm. Rappahan. nock county begins at the top of the mountain at Chester Gap, but by some freak of map-making, the house, seen plainly from the high* way coming down the mountain toward Huntly, is located in Fauquier.
Mr. and Mrs. Howes are now now living at “Headwaters Farm.*'' Their daughter, Miss Wendy Howes, is being married at Cape Cod next month, and their son, Samuel C. Howes, is a student at Middlesex School in Massachusetts. He is spending the summer with* his parents here.
