Amissville School News
The teachers of Amissville school observed “Open House” from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on January 25. Invitations were sent to all patrons. The following patrons visited their school at this time: Mrs. W. W. Walter, Mrs. Ralph Rowzie, Mrs. W. A. Laing, Jr., Mrs. Daisy Sisk, Mrs. L. H. Llewellyn. --
Although we have had a great deal of sickness our per cent of attendance (average) for the month of January was 06. Thirty four pupils were not absent during the month.
The following pupils have not been absent during the first semester: Linda Rowzie, Marjorie Settle, Peggy Cook, Roger Gough, Mary Ann Hall, Geraldine Jenkins Joyce Walter, Patsy Woodward, Elizabeth Latham, Shirlean Dodson, Willie Walter.
We are continuing our drive for corrective work that will mean more children have reached the 5-Point Health Standard. To date, we have the following “5 Pointers.” Willie Laing, James Edward Woodward, Joyce Dodson, Linda Rowzie, Ray Burke, Billy Justis, Bobby Llewellyn,, Mary Ann Hall, Geraldine Jenkins, Clarence Dodson, Lloyd Llewellyn, Marjorie Settle, Kathy Laing, Joyce Welter Donald Settle, Peggy Jenkins, Jane Riley, Jimmie Justis, Patsy Woodward, Hilda Settle, Tommy Woodward, Elizabeth Latham and Betty Tapp.
That is approximately 40% of our membership. We certainly hope we can pull it up to 50% of our membership during February.
