Attends Animal Meeting

The Annual Chief Forest Warden meeting of the Virginia Forest Service Northern Piedmont District was held at Orange for the sixth successive year. Chief Forest Warden Raymond M. Johnson of Rappahannock county attended this meeting, as Rappahannock county. is one of the sixteen counties comprising the Northern Piedmont District. Chief Forest Warden Johnson said the plans were made for this spring and fall forest fire season. Extensive plans for preventing forest fires were discussed, along with impartial enforcement *®of the State forest fire laws as well as methods to improve i actual forest fire suppression work by strengthening the county organization with the addition of several local wardens and auxiliary. A large portion of this meeting was also devoted to' forest management and reforestation: In the afternoon at a nearby farm, the Forest Service tree planter was demonstrated by planting several hundred forest tree seedlings. A power wagon equipped with hand tools, power pump and fire line plow was also demonstrated at this time. The meeting dosed at approximately 3 p.m. with the expression of desires' of all members of the Virginia Forest Service the general public cooperate with the Forest Service organization in using discretion in brush burning while doing land clearing operations this spring.
