Firemen Plan Co-operation

The three fire companies of the county are outlining plans to cooperate in money-raiBing projects during the coming year. Several plans, at present in the discussion stage only, include a possible county firemens baseball team and a county-wide firemen’s carnival.

Working on the theory of strength in unity, the three small companies are beginning to think in terms of helping each other. Amisaville, Sperryville, and Washington are each small communties, each with her own fire company, and each alive in her own community, but each also realizes that it will foe comforting to know that one or both of the other two will he on hand to help if the need arises. Combined, the three companies cover the greatest part of the county. The combined work of all three communities would make, an organization hard to beat. (Flint Hill community is included in the Washington company, for members of fire company and auxiliary live in Flint Hill. Woodville is connected in this same way with the Sperryville company.)

No definite plans have been completed, but at present discussions include the possibility of cleaning off a baseball diamond on the Flat Woods property, the proposed site of the future (?) county high school.

Some fellow in Texas has come up with theory that persons who sleep north to south sleep fetter and live longer than those whose beds are lined up east to west.

With nothing else to worry me, 1 got to pondering on this deep question. Just before going to sleep, I figured—as near as I could without a compass—that the bed upon which 1 was prone put me reclining, head-to-foot, southeast to northwest. If I could have managed to remain awake a few extra minutes, I might have figured which way, catty-cornered, I could have shifted the carcass and met the points of the compass—but
