A Success
The Ameteur Hour sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of Emmanuel Episcopal church, Sperryville on Friday night proved quite a success in every way. All of the contestants were good and the hour was apparently enjoyed by the audience. The first prize of $5 went to “The Updike Sisters,” Misses Lynn and Holly, who sang “The BeHs of St. Mary;” Miss Peggy Pillar, who rendered a violin solo, received second prize of $3; and Ed Lynn Menefee, who rendered a solo, “I Wish I Was,” was awarded third prize of $2. Forty-five dollars was added to the Auxiliary fund. The Amateur Hour program, which was presented by the Ladies Auxiliary of Emmanuel church in the school auditorium at Sperryville Friday bight, was presented to the Rappahannock County High School iq the auditorium on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. A. M. Vemer, Nick Cascio and Mrs. W. Arthur Miller were judges. Ed Lynn Menefee won first prize with a vocal solo; Misses Lynn and Holly Updike, who sang a duet, won Second place; and the third prize was won by Peachy Lyne, Mary Lou Davis and Nancy Brown. The three girls were dressed as three little colored boys and sang, "De Camp Town Races.”
