The regular meeting of the Rap* pahannock Volunteer Fire Department met in the firehouse Thursday, February 12, with twenty members present
Highlights of the meeting were: to hold regular meetings in the firehouse. It was decided to have spine painted, doors and locks gone over, provide a place for firemen’s coats, install lights where needed and to purchase six flash lights for the firemen.
J. * W. Clatterbuck was duly presented and voted in as a member of the fire company.
An enthusiastic discussion took place pertaining to the organization of a basebal team in the county by the three fire companies. Bruce Bowie, Charlie J e n k i n s, Junior Hawkins and Downing Wpod were appointed as a committee to meet with committees from Sperryvile and Amissville companies to formulate plans for same.
BIRTHDAY DINNER *
Galley Washington Smith III celebrated his fourteenth birthday with a dinner party given on Sunday, Feb. 1 by his mother, Mrs. Smith. Hs guests were Johnnie Browning, Dudley Wood, Hill Walker, Jimmy Yates, Robert L. Massie Jr, and Charlie Smith. Mrs. Robert L. Massie and Miss Minnie WiHiams were also present.
BRIDGE PARTY Mrs. Charles Bruce entertained at her home, "Stonehaven” on Tuesday evening. Her guests were Mrs. Charles Wood, Mrs. Brue Wood, Mrs. G. W. Smith Jr., Mrs. M. R. Bradford Jr., Mrs. H. C. Warwick, Mrs. John P. Snead, Mrs. George Taylor, Mrs. Charles Estes, Mrs. Lee Thornton, Mrs. Z. H. Sealock, Mrs. Holmes Hall, Mrs. Pete Scudere, Mrs. Dike Quaintance, Mrs. D. Lyle Miller, Mrs. F. W. Schaefer and Mrs. D. D. Miller. After the game, prizes were awarded by the hostess to Mrs. Gorge Taylor for high score; Mrs. G. W. Smith, traveling; Mrs. Lee Thornton, bingo and the consolation went to Mrs. Sealock.
