If Taxes Not Filed

A penalty of 10% and not less than £2.00 goes on the bill if state income and personal property taxes are not filed by May 1, states a notice from the office of the commissioner of Revenue.

All tangible and yi tangible personal property must bd declared at a fair market value. Some misinformation has given the impression that a tax filed last year can just be carried over to this year, but this is not true; personal property must be filed every year.

Poll Taxes Due May 2

For Primary Toting

May 2, Saturday, is the final day for payment of poll taxes in order to vote ui the primary in July. It is safest to check at the treasurer’s office and make sure that taxes are paid.

New voters, who will be 21 before the November election, are eligible to vote in both the primary and the election without payment of poll taxes; in order to vote in the primary however, the just-21 or to-be-21 voters must register 30 days prior to the primaiy. The primary is July 14, so registration must be made before June 13.
