Beginning: Monday, May 4, at 10 a.m. and the first Monday of every- month thereafter, the Health Department of Rappahannock county will sponsor monthly immunization clinics for all parents of pre-school children and school children under ten who have not had their inoculations.
The Health Department recommends that all parents should take their children to their family doctor for immunizations. If you have no doctor, the Health Department will immunize your child without charge.
When your child becomes three months of age, it is time to give the vaccine for diphtheria, lockjaw, and whooping cough. This is given as a “three-in-one” shot, and is repeated at four and five months of age. A “booster" dose is given a year later, and prior to entering school.
Your child should be vaccinated against smallpox at six of age, and again before they start school.
Dr. L. T. Giles, director, Mrs. Frances Thornton, public health \ nurse, and Mrs. Lee Gore, health , department secretary, will assist in the immunization clinics.
