The County 4-H Council met Saturday, May 2, at Rappahannock High School. Judy Hawkins of the Sperryville 4-H led the group in singing.
A member of each of the clubs gave a report on the progress in their respective club.
In 1953 4-H club camp to be held at Powell’s Fort Valley during the first week of August was discussed by the club agent, Ben H. Weddle. He stated that the county quota was 35 and it is the desire of the council to see that it is filled.
W. H. Lyne, County Agent, discussed the 4-H short course to be held from June 22-27. Four 4-H members and a leader will attend from the county. Much discussion was given the program, “Share the Fun” that will be sponsored by the 4-H clubs on May 29th at the Rappahannock High School. Since there will be no admission, a silver offering will be taken at the door.
The 4-H Fair to be held October 3 at Rappahannock H.S. was discussed by Betty Rutherford. The following committees and officers have been appointed: president, Newbill Miller; vice-president, Lelia Gentry; chairman of the activities committee, Peachey Lyne; chairman of the class committee, Betty Rutherford; and chairman of publicity, Neville Wood.
