1st Rappahannock Hunt Ball
Held At “Meadowbrook"
The Rappahannock Hunt Club held Its first Hunt Ball Saturday evening, May 16, at “Meadowbrook Hall,” the lovely home of Mrs. W. P. Slaughter.
Members of the Hunt and their guests were graciously greeted and welcomed by Mrs. Slaughter, her nephew and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Duncan, who were her house guests, in a manner reminiscent of the best of the “Old South.”
The ball room at Meadowbrook opens on a wide ° terrace above the rose garden — roses were in full bloom — many liglits about the estate played upon the fountains, reflected in the swimming pool, and sweet music floating through the open windows of the ball room turned the lovely home into a veritable fairyland for those of Rappahannock who hold their fox hunting dear.
An old fashioned Virginia supper was served at twelve in the spacious dining room and at 2 o’clock Chauncey Brown’s orchestra played “Home Sweet Home” and guests departed.

Or gems of brilliant hues,
Better than travel o'er land
Or to sail bn many seas,
Are the treasures we hold—
And guard in our hearts,
Our beautiful memories.”
