Rappahannock should now qualify as a typical average American community. We can go from the sublime to the ridiculous—or you can pick your own adjective. On last Saturday night the citizens of the county who, shall we say, have had opportunities to learn the better ways of living, met together and enjoyed a full-dress evening’s entertainment. The following evening, the Sabbath, a bunch of boys gathered in a community when there were two very ill citizens, some elderly people, and two church services, and proceded to entertain themselves by shooting off firecrackers.
Meanwhile, on both evenings aforementioned, some of the rest of the citizens went to bed early, glad to rest after a hard day’s work.
Yep, it takes all kinds to make up the world, and we have all the varieties right here in Rappahannock.
