Panther Boys Win 37-33 Girls Lose, 75-47
Harold Brcwn and Jackie Sisk, scoring 11 points each, led the Panther boys to a ,37-33 victory, while B. Carter’s 52 points drowned the Panther girls, 75-47 in Friday’s doubleheader with Lovettsville on the R.C.H.S. court.
The Panther boys took the lead from the first whistle and Lovettsville trailed 9-2 at the first quarter’s end; 16-7 at the half, 24-19 at the third quarter and 37-33 when the game ended.
Bobby Atkins chalked up 10 points; Tony Lucas, 2 and Bunny Pullen, 3. B. Johnson was high scorer for Lovettsville with 15 points.
B. Carter, classed as one of the best players in this part of the state, led Lovettsville with a high of 52 points, in the girls’ game. Jean Brown scored 24 points for the Panthers and Mable Hawkins, 12. Estelle Jenkins and Betty Bruce, in addition to the line-up announced in last week’s News, entered the Lovettsville game.
Nick Cascio, Pickens Barker and Jean Brown praised their teams as playing very good ball and explained the girls’ loss with "too much B. Carter.”
