A number of additional contributors to the treasury of the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department were announced by Treasurer Luther Stuart**11 its meeting last week. They were: The Rappahannock Mutual Insurance Co., $100; W. E. Duncan, $25; Castleton Farms, $25; Bradley Dodson, $10; Amissville Youth Center, $5; Jeffersonton Rural Youth Club, $12; and Anonymous, $5. Applications of two new members were accepted during the meeting. They were Charles D. Burrough and William R. Smith.
Fire Chief Charles Compton reported that the company had answered four fire calls in a single week recently, three of them brush fires and the fourth a chimney fire.
The company revised its constitution to admit junior members between the ages of 15 and 21 for training as future fire fighters.
President Thomas Tear appointed a recreation committee to plan recreation activities for junior members. The committee consists of Captain — (USN retired) Luther Stuart, Col. J. N. Caperton, Fred Hutchison, Ralph ROwzie, Mitchell Green, Thomas Stover a-nd Wallace Stover.
Fred Hutchinson in his capacity as State fire warden called attention of the members to the ban on brush fires before 4 p.m. from March 1 to May 15.
