There recently appeared a dispatch in the daily newspapers from Helena, Mont., • under date of May 1, as follows:
“George Beatty, 96, whose lodge records show, was the oldest living Mason in the United States, died last night at his ranch near -Wmston. He joined the IV1 asonre order in 1865.”
Washington has this record smashed. Mr. John A. Compton, who is now in his 97th year, is the oldest Mason in the United States, having joined the Masonic order - in 1860. He has been a Mason for 74 years”

Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Gordon of Baltimore were dinner guests of Mrs. W. P. Slaughter at “Meadow Brook Hall.” Mrs. Slaughter is closing her home here this week and will spend the winter in Honolulu.
