Some parents seemea to ieei u»i by being asked to sign consent slips that there was considerable risk involved in receiving the vaccine. As previously stated, we have no reason to think there is any risk whatsoever involved in giving this vaccine or no attempt would he made to give it to so many children. Some children may get a slight redness around the area of the shot, but what is this compared to poliomyelitis? The consent slips are issued so that the doctors will know' what parents want their children immunized as no doctor would give any type of drug or shot, except in an emergency, without parental consent. \
The Health Director pointed out the success of the program depended on the understanding and support of all groups in the community and that it is a community responsibility to assist in the eradication of the devastating and dehibilitating disease of poliomyelitis. He urged anyone with questions about the vaccine program to contact the local health department or discuss it with their family doctor.
