.He entered the University College of Medicine in Richmond, graduating in 1901. One year of ^ internship was spent at the Retreat For The Sick. Then for 35 years he was associated with the Lundale Hospital in the mining town of Logan, West Virginia, ten of these years, 1817-1927, as Superintendent Chief Surgeon. While making his home in West Virginia, he was president-director of the Logan Co. Bank, Man. Ice and Supply Company and a director of the Logan Co. Coal Corp.
While in Huntinston looking • for a nurse for his hospital, Dr. Quaintance made the .acceptance of Bessie Sue Ramsey, product of Shenandoah College in Dayton and the University of Virginia Nursing School. They were married in Febjruary 28, 1921/Two sons were born to the couple. Rube rt Wilson, Jr. is now a practicing physician in! Culpeper where he, his wife and his two children make their home. Barton Breston, a lawyer, lives with his wife and family (2 children) in Fredericksburg.
Dr. Quaintance is a member of A.F. and A.M., A.A. O.N.M.S., having entered the lodge in Sperryville. j
Dr. Quaintance and his wife, a friendly, energetic personality, live quietly in their home high on a hill in Slate Mills. Mrs. Quaintance keeps house and spends every bit of unoccupied time planting and cultivating her flowers. Each year, Dr. Quaintance moves the fence of the yard back, giving her more border to fill with the ever increasing varieties,
Mr. Quaintance, a tall heavily built gentleman, with gray hair, speaks firmly with a twinkle of a smile in his voice hinting of a keen sense of humor, and a depth of understanding.
He has the look of a happy man. Though he’s never quite had time, since retirement, for that trip to Florida, he has always found time for that sick patient. Perhaps, this is his secret.
