“You are the finder of a Crusade for Freedom balloon, 1 of thousands released on Lincoln's Birthday by the Fraternal Order Of Eagles as part of a nation wide , effort to enlist Americans every where in the Crusade for Freedom campaign . . . This balloon is exactly the same as those used in Europe by the Crusade For Freedom to carry messages of truth, hope and encouragement to the Soviet oppressed people behind the Iron Curtain , . . .these balloons effectively supplement—work of Radio Free Europe.

The pamphlets explained the purpose of Radio Free Europe; also enclosed were envelopes which could be used to send “truth dollars” to Radio Free Europe.
