4-H Leaders Attend
Camp At Va. Beach
Miss Elinor Jan* Atkins, Miss Jean Lilia d, Glen Updike and Rod Regai with Mrs. W. A. Gen* try and Ripley Owihgs were the campers and leaders from Rappahannock County who attended the annual, 4-E Conservation Camp at Virginia Beach last week. One Hundred forty-four 4-H Club members Aid 33 leaders from SO Virginia counties spent the week of July 23 j - 28 at Camp Farrar.
Selected | on the basis of leadership and 4-H acheivement, the
boys and gjirls attended classes on various phases of human and natural resource; conservation, took field tripe,; enjoyed games, sports
and swimmjing; in the ocean. Camp fire programs, square dancing, vesper services, Indian loje and the colorful candle lighting service were highlights of the week.
For manv of the youngsters, especially these : from the western counties, this was their first glimpse of! the ocean and their first opportunity to swim ia the surf. For tomb, the trip involved travel of wiell over 600 miles.
