Ten inches of snow dumped on the Rappahannock Race course between Wednesday night and Friday noon, made it impossible to run the Point-to-Point on March 5. A new date has been set for Wednesday, March 16; the same race card will be maintained.
“We have chosen this early March 16th date,” says Oliver Durant, Chairman of the Race Committee, “in hopes that we still shall be able to provide a good conditioning race for horses .that are going the whole Virginia and Maryland Point-to-Point circuit.
The 3-mile Rappahannock, course, laid over firm, rolling pasture terrain, with its moderate Aiken-type fences, is designed as an ideal challenge for horses that are scheduled to build up in successive Point-to-Point Races for the flatter, faster and stronger courses of the Maryland Cup and the Gold Cup.
