Walter Lee Mills
A funeral service was held at 3 :0() p.m. Tuesday in Willis Chapel Methodist Church for Walter Lee Mills, who died unexpectedly Sunday morning at his home in Huntly.
Mr. Mills, a well known merchant in Huntly, was born there February 16, 1886, the son of Joseph Thomas and Betty Johnson Mills. His wife, Hattie Ralls Mills, died in 1954. He is survived by one son, Vernon and one grandchild, Linda Jean of Huntly; one brother, Edward Milk of Front Royal.
Rev E. L. Lester conducted the last rites and interment was in the Willis Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Aubrey North, Albert Wines, Dennis Williams, Hugh Williams, Bradley Williams and Bowser Williams.
4-H Demonstration
Contest Held March 5
The County 4-H Demonstration Contest was held Saturday, March 5th at the parish hall fn Washington, Va.
Tlie girk gave demonstrations on 4-H projects. Judy Kay Lillard of the Flint Hill Senior Club, received a red award On her demonstration ‘IHow to Make Muffins”. She received a blue award on her demonstration “Converting A Lamp”. She will represent the county' in the District Contest.
Dana Snead, Washington Senior Club, received a blue award on her demonstration on ‘‘Care Of A Toaster”.
Junior girk receiving awards were Nancy Buntin, a red award on ‘‘Salad Making”; Carolyn Johnston, a red award on “Cookies” and Mildred Dodson, a red award on “Making Fudge”. These girk are members of the Sperrvville 4-H Clubs. Judges for the event were Mrs. Wallace Critzer and Mrs. Barbara Gentry.
