learning new skills in laundry and ironing, building health through better nutrition, insuring safety irv the home and on the farm and countless others ,may give full attention to his favorite subject. This is fun for the leader, but the most important factor in the set-up is that he helps the 4-H member learn while doing, at the same time.

There are no juvenile delinquents among 4-H members. They are too busy doing worthwhile, helpful things to get into mischief for thrills. Their thrills come when the blue ribbons and medals are given at achievement programs, or when their parents say, “Son, you have done a good job raising this calf. We are proud of you.” The volunteer leader gets her reward when her girls win their ribbons for their efforts, or when the club' member says, “Now I understand' how to make a good demonstration. You have helped me get over my shyness.” Doesn’t it take a lot of time and study ? Yes, it does, and we learn as we help the young folks learn. There is something inspiring about working with people of any age who are truly trying to “make the best bettter.” It keeps us all try ing to excell our own best efforts.

It is the job of the leader to constantly inspire, set the example and teach the 4-H member to do his best and give him confidence in his ability. Many a person has great talent, but is lacking in self .confidence to use it or even show it. Leaders have the challenger to to bring out these talents, and help the boy or girl to polish them and use them in being a better, happier person.
