Ask an insurance man from London, where all three risks were insured. 4 It’s difficult to realize how international the world of business is until incidents of this sort occur. We may still be far from Wendell Wilkie’s “One World”, but the ?lobe grows smaller all the time. Some interesting statistics on American agriculture have just been released. In 1960, for example, the average farmer will produce ’ enough food and fiber for himself and 25 other people, ten more than in 1950. He will produce enough for three times as many people as he did in 1920. Yet the amount of crop land is almost unchanged since 1920, and the farmers work less than one-half the man hours they did in 1920. Who benefits most from this increased efficiency? Actually the non farmer. It now takes 18 minutes for a prodortionworker to earn enough to buy an average pound of meat whereas in the boom year of 1929 it took him 36 minutes or twice as long. An item we can’t omit: the average hen lays twice as many eggs now as in 1940. This sounds sort of rough on poor average hen. * Thp House of Delegates this week declared The 1954 SuDreme Court ruling on school integration “unauthorized and therefore unlawful.” The House repudiated the Court s action as "not the law” because the Court lacked constitutional authority to act.
