BROILERS
Right now we’re at the seasonal peak of supply, aifti we’re running about 14 per cent over a year ago.
Demand should be good for the month, and by the end of August, supply will be trimnied to’ about 10 per cent over last year. The decline wil^ continue at a faster rate than last year, until supply gets down to about the same as a year earlier in October. This time last year broiler prices averaged 17Vi io 15Vi.
Last week in Virginia, broilers ranged from 17 to 17Vi. Delmarva broilers ranged from 18 to 19% and North Carolina and Georgia were at 17 cents.
Prices during the next two or three weeks are expected to hold about their present levels.
