The President, T. T. Curtis, gave his annual address, and Mr. M. A. Hubbard, Executive Secretary presented his report. At this session, the amendment to the bylaws was passed. This amendment specified that a Director should be a member in i good standing and that he shall derive a major portion of his intome from farming.
During the second general session, held at 9 a.m., November 29, with C. E. Johnson, Jr., State Director from Rappahannock County presiding, reports were given on the Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company by Aldan 'E. Flory, General Manager, and on the Women’s Committee by Mrs. S. D. Tilson, Jr., of Fauquier County, Chairman of the Women’s Committee. Mr. Frank L. Teuton, Research Information Officer, Agricultural Research Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture, Washington, D. C., addressed the meeting on the subject of “Research on Parade”, giving examples of the progress that has been made in the use of agricultural products.
The third general session, held at 1:30 p.m., tvas presided over by Mrs. S. D. Tilson, Jr., Chairman of the Women’s Committee. Mr. Leonard E. Read, President, Foundation for Economic Education, Irvington-on-Hudson, New York, gave an address on “Big Government: Threat to our Free Markets”, after which a general business session was held. Mr. T. T. Curtis, of Orange, Virginia, was reelected President of the VFBF, and C. E. Johnson, Jr., of Sperryville, was reelected State Director from the Third District.
