The .Northern Virginia Feeder Pig Association, Inc. held its 4th feeder pig sale at Culpeper on Tuesdav of last week. A total of 697 head fetched $11,728.99!
Rappahannock County was one of the largest, if not the largest consigning counties to this area sale. Among those selling were: Jim Yates, Earl Waylantj, Herbert Barksdale, Nelson Atkins, Jr., D. D. Miller and Son, Jim Massie, John Woodward, John Updike, Gordon Thornhill and Miss Eda Finks.
Fifty-nine percent (415 head) graded No! 1 averaging 77 ponuds and $18,631 per head. No. 2’s (185 head) averaged 65 pounds and $15.08 per head.
Apparently Rappahannock feeder pig producers have been pleased with this marketing method and program. Of the four sales held to date Messers Yates and Massie have consigned <to three j while Messers Barksdale, Thornhill, and Way land have sold in two of the sales.
