No Heotachlor To Be

Used On Alfalfa

The Virginia Department of Agriculture has announced there will be no fertilizer-heptachlor mixtures approved for use on alfalfa to control weevils for application in the spring of 1961. The same goes for straight heptachlor.

The announcement followed a meeting of the Department’s Fertilizer Advisory Committee, which includes representatives of the fertilizer industry, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and farm organizations.

At the same time, the Department ruled out heptachlor from fertilizer mixtures to be used on peanuts in 1961, but allowed some fertilizer-heptachlor mixtures for corn.
