Forest tree seedlings for reforesting cutover timberlands and abandoned land are now is the precess of being lifted, graded and packed for fall and spring planting during the 1960-61 planting season. Forester W. C. Vernam reports that there areo5 million trees being grown in the state forest tree nurseries and that the Division of Forestry anticipates that all of these trees will be planted in Virginia by private landowners interested in forest conservation. The demand for trees by the peogle of Virginia has been increasing steadily during the past 10 years and the Division Jot Forestry expects this bumper crop of trees to be totally planted by the end of March 1961.
Forest trees seedlings for reforesting cutover land and abandoned land may be obtained from the Virginia Division of Forestry at the low cost of $4.50 to $8.50 per thousand trees delivered to the land owner. 1,000 trees-will plant an open acre of land and about 500 trees per acre will re-plant an acre of cutover land. Plant forest tree seedlings and put a value on your .land. Seedlings order forms may be obtained from Chief Forest Warden Raymond Johnson of Woodville or by contacting W. C. Vernam, Forester, Box 111, Warrenton, Virginia your County Agent, ASC Office or SCS representative. Advice on reforesting land may be had free upon request. Order your trees now to'sbe sure of receiving them at the desired time.
