George Warren Wood, a prominent farmer and orchards of Rappahannock County was accidentally killed Friday, March 10 at Ivy Hill Farm while hunting crows. A 20 guage shot gun which Mr. Wood was carrying accidentally discharged when he attempted to climb a fence, inflicting fatal wounds inj his chest.
Mr. Wood, 48, was a son of the late Thomas W. Wood and Mary Sealock Wood. A native of Rappahannock, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Nethers Wood; and five sisters, Mrs. Larry Buckley, Culpeper} Mrs. 'Earl Many, Washington, Va,; Mrs. Jack Piehler. Rochester, N. Y.; Mrs. Walter Jones and Mrs. Kitty Huff, both of Washington, D, C.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ae Sperryville Cemetery with Rev. Dabney Carr pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating.
Pallbearers were Joel Jenkins, Canon Johnson, Aubrey Keyser, D. Lyle Miller, Jr., G. W. Beahm, Jack Bruce, Lester Yates and James W. Coates.
Clore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Supper At Amiaavilla
The WSCS; of the Amissville Methodist Church will sponsor a public supper on Friday, March 17 at Amissville Fire Hall. Supper will be served from 5 to 8 p.m.
