Board Members: , 1 began my work in Virginia’s public schools thirty-six years ago as principal of the Warren County. High School. In this position, I served for twenty years when you elected me to the Superintendency of Warren and Rappahannock Counties, and in this capacity I have had the pleasure of serving sixteen years. Whatever measure of success I have had in public school work has been due largely to the support I have received from all the people with whom I have worked, and I am grateful especially for the help and interest shown by the School Boards; my failures are my own.
Recently I have had to choose between continuing in public school employment or accepting employment in another type of educational work. After careful consideration I have chosen the latter:Only future years can evaluate the wisdom of this choice.
Naturally, I do not know who will suceed me as your Executive Officer, but I can say that 'I know he will have the same help and support you have given me, and with this, he can serve in the best interests of the public school system of these two Counties.
I shall always recall with pleasure my association with you, and I express confidence in your continued dedication toward achieving the best educational advantages possible for the children of
