Alcohol Study
A study on alcohol will be held by the Commission on Missions of the Rappahannock Methodist Charge with the Methodist Youth Fellowship, the Woman’s Society of Christian Service arid other church groups participating. The study book, “Stumbling Blo|ck”, will be used and the sessions will be led by Rev. William A. Jester, minister of Rappahannock Charge. This study is being held in cooperation with the General Board of Missions and Virginia Methodist Conference, which is asking every charge to hold a study on alcohol. Tne free-will offering taken each night will be sent to the Virginia Methodist Conference Board of Christian Soofal Concerns, which will in turn use the offerings in its support of the Virginia Church Temperance Council. The purpose for the study is not to tell anyone that they should or should not drink alcoholic beverages, but to gain a better understanding of what alcohol is and does, and how a Christian must take on the responsibility of dealing with the problems, dangers and harmful effects of the increasing use of alcohol. The movie film, “Alcohol and the Human Body,” will be shown at the first study session, held at Flint Hill Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 22, 7:30 p.m.
Sperryville Methodist Church will hos the second session Wednesday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. The film, “Alcoholism” will be viewed.
Wednesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m., the third session of study will be held at Willis Chapel Methodist Church, Huntly, where the film “Problem Drinkers”, will be seen.
The fourth session will be held at Washington Methodist Church Wednesday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. and will include the motion picture, “Far From Alone,” which shows how a football star is confronted with alcohol.
Every interested person is invited to attend each session.

The week of March 6-10 was a full one for the women of Washington Baptist Church. It was the State Week of Prayer for Home Missions and three services were held at the church. One followed ■ the regular meeting of the Missionary Society which is held the first Tuesday of the month.
