An 18-hole golf course, also constructed by local area contracting firms, is near completion, and present plans calls for the formal opening of the couirse on May 30, 1961.

In other developments, officials announced that most grading and land improvements has been completed and it is anticipated that construction work ion various recreation area buildjings will begin early next year.

Last summer aj boys and girls summer camp was conducted at the recreation area, and a similar but somewhat larger version of the camp will be open in 1961.

The Club also maintains a stable of over fifty ridin(g horses at the recreation area. Colonel Edwin B. Miller, Commander of Bolling Air Force Base, stated that the improvements carried out by local contracting firms and the goods and services purchased through local firms resulted in a total expenditure of approximately $401,000 in the Warrenton-Culpeper economy

“It is our intention,” Colonel Miller said, “to continue to deal as much as possible; with local area business firms in the construction of =this facility. We alo intend to continue our practice of employing mostly local citizens at the recreation area. Since we feel that we are now members Jof idle local community, we shall continue to support local firms in every Way possible.” >

The Club, an activity financed solely by its members, plans a 10year development program at the recreation area.
