Supervisors Discuss
Civil Defense
At the June meeting of the County Board of Supervisors held Wednesday, June 7, the major discussion centered on Civil Defense. Mr. Stanley N. Collins, the Regional Department Coordinator of the North Central Region of C. D. was present to bring facts concerning a plan of survival in the event of nuclear warfare. He discussed the erection of shelters, ■ both private and community, for protection against radiation and, the supplies and equipment which would be needed in a shelter. Mr. Collins offered to outline 3 plan suitable for Rappahannock.
Mr. E. M. Jones, Chairmap of the Board, stated that a small sum of money was allocated in the county budget for Civil Defense.
To get Federal aid for C. D., a plan must be formulated by July 1st.
After a detailed 'report from state inspection of the local jail, the supervisors adjourned to reconvene June 21st.
