One Badly Injured
In Truck-Auto Wreck
James Lee Sharpnack, a soldier of Masontown, Pa. who was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., was badly injured- Tu^day morning when the care he was driving collided with a dump truck of hot asphalt in front of the home of Sheriff J. W. Critzer in the town of Washington, Va.
Sharpnack was driving east in a 1957 Chevrolet convertible when he apparently fell asleep and veered into the left lane of the highway as the truck rounded a sharp curve going west. The truck driver blew his horn and swung to the left lone to avoid striking the auto, which he thought was making a letf turn into Critzer’s lane. At that instant Sharpnack woke up and swung back into his own lane smashing head on into the truck.
The automobile was bartered and the dump section of the truck was knocked clear off spilling the contents over the road. State Highway crews and L. V. Merrill quickly cleared the wreckage and. X]antinutd on page eight debris.
