The World Of 1962
The year 1962 arrives bright, fresh and unmarked to a world that has learned to take things pretty much in stride.
There was, of course, worldwide excitement with the first man - into - space shots. Still, it wasn't long before folks ceased to herald these accomplishments and speculate as to the greater space achievements yet to come.
We live in a world that looks to change ... a world that is not used to standing still.
We live in a competitive world ... a world in which the science of ideas is no less important than the first moon shot.
We live in a world of plenty . . . surrounded by luxuries, gadgets and playthings.
We live in a world of need . . . with great areas and many peoples poorly fed, ill-housed, uninstructed, without hope for tomorrow, without the blessings of Christianity.
What changes will the year 1962 bring about? Who can say? Certainly we will open new vistas in space; medical research will advance the cause against sickness and disease; and, let us hope, something will be done to advance the cause of world peace.
