NOTICE LB HEREBY -GIVEN that pursuant to Sections 29-125 and 29-126 of the Code of Virginia, the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries meeting at Richmond, Virginia, November 13, 1961, ordered the proposed changes in its rules and will hold a Public Hearing for the purpose of adopting these proposed rules at Room 100, 7 North Second Street, Richmond, Virginia, 9:30 a.m., January 5, 1962. •
Amend1 Regulation 4-2 to read as follows:
42 The statewide open angling season for trout shall be from 12 o’clock noon the first Saturday in April to one hour after sunset December 31, Eastern StandJard Time, and- from one hour before siunnse to one hour after sunset on intervening days, unless otherwise excepted.
42 (a) As an exception to the statewide trout season, the season will be closed, excpt on privately stocked waters, from the first Monday in May through the following Friday in Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Bland, Botetourt, Buchanan, Craig, Dickenson, Giles, Highland, Lee, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise and Wythe counties.
42 (b) As an exception to the statewide trout season, the season will be closed, except on privately stocked waters, from the second Monday in May through the following Friday in Albemarle, Amherst, Bedford, Carroll, Floyd, Franklin, Frederick, Grayson, Greene, Henry, Madison (except in the iRapidan and Staunton Rivers and thedr tributaries upstream from a sign at the lower Shenandoah National Park boundary), Montgomery, Nelson, Page, Patrick, Pulaski, Rappahannock, Roanoke, Shenandoah and Warren counties.
42 (c) The daily creel limit of trout shall be eight.
42 (d) It shall be unlawful to fish in a stocked trout stream after the daily creel limit of trout is obtained.
42 (e) It shall be unlawful , to fish in waters, statewide, stocked with trout except during the open season for taking trout.
42 (f) All seines, nets and/or the use of more than one rod or one line by any one person are prohibited statewide, in waters stocked with trout, except it shall be lawful to use a hand landing net to land fish legally hooked in all waters. '
Amend Regulation 39 to read as follows;
39 There shall be a continuous open season statewide to take all species of fish, except trout.
39 (a) White bass and chain pickerel or jack-fish are hereby declared game fish.
37 (b) Creel limits shall be as follows: Large and smallmouth, black bias, spotted bass, and striped bass (rock fish), 8 a day m the aggregate; white bass, 25 a day; wall-eyed or pike perch and chain pickerel or jack-fish, 8 a day; bhiegill (bream) and other sunfish, including crappie or silver perch, 26 a day in the aggregate.
39 (c) Size limit on striped bass (rock fish), 12 inches. No size limit on- other species.
