A report this week of game checking stations in Rappahannock follows: Jenkln’s Garage in Amissville report-' ed two deer checked; one by Norman Philips and one by Douglas Silvey. Both men are from Amissville and the deer were bagged in that vicinity. Rector's Store, Flint Hill, had 16 deer checked in this season, three killed by local people. Carson Johnson’s EssoServicenter reported 70 deer for the season kill. Many of these were bagged the last day of the season when snow forced the animals to the orchards to forage for food. Mills Store at Huntly reports 10 deer checked this season.
One Injured In Single Car Crash
One person was injured in a single car accident Monday evening, Jan. 8 on Rt. 211 at Redivlva. Fred True Shepherd, an insurance salesman of Nokesville, ran off the high way onto the soft shoulder and swerved into a ditch. He was crowded by an oncoming vehicle, said Shepherd and lost control of his car when he hit the soft dirt. ( Shepherd sustained severe lacerations of the right eye and chin, a broken rib and possible neck injury. He was taken to the office of Dr. John Snead, and transferred r1 to Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg by the Rappahannock Rescue Squad. Trooper Dodson of Luray investigated the accident.
