CORN YIELDS HIT
RECORD HIGH Virginia farmers produced the highest yields of corn in history in 1962, says Dr. H. L. Dunton, head of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute agronomy department. Such yields are more profitable than when farmers were producing 30 to 35 bushels per acre, he says. Actually, a yield of 58 to 60 bushels per acre is not high today. Good farmers know that corn is not a very profitable crop at 60 bushels per acre. Dunton says his department has underway several experiments in cooperation
