Changes In 1963 Feed Grain Program
Certain changes in the 1963 Feed Grain Program were announced by the Secretary of Agriculture.
The changes are as follows:
1. The corn price support loan level was increased from $1.02 per bushel to a national average of $1.07 per bushel. In addition to this, the 18 cents per bushel payment in kind specified by law announced previously, makes the total support level to cooperating farms at $1.25 per bushel. 2. The barley price support level was raised from 79 cents to 82 cents per bushel. With the 14 cents per bushel payment in kind the total support level to cooperating farms is 96 cents per bushel 3. The support level on grain sorghum was raised from $1.62 to $1.71 perhundredweight. This plus a payment in kind of 29 cents per hundredweight brings the total support level to cooperating farms to $2.00 per hundredweight. 4. The diversion payment on small farms is being Increased. A producer who has a base of 25 or less acres and elects to divert all ‘of it will receive payment on 50 per cent of his normal yield for the entire diversion “These are good changes in the 1963 Feed Grain Program. It is further demonstration of the administration's continued effort to improve farm income while making additional progress in balancing feed grain supplies with national requirements", according to the state chairman. USDA authorities believe that these changes will encourage participation In the 1963 Feed Grain Program, and discourage overexpansion of livestock production while improving national farm income.
