Major General William E. Potter, U. S. Army (ret.), will be the guest speaker at a dinner meeting of Madison Wildlife Association on Friday, Feb. 1. The banquet will be held in the auditorium of Madison High School at 7 p.m. Gen. Potter recently retired as governor of Panama Canal Zone and is now vice-president of the 1964 New York World's Fair. Hon. Burr P. Harrison, who retired as Congressman from the 7th District, will also be a guest. During the meeting prizes will be presented to winners of various competitions held during the past year. Tickets may be obtained from officers and directors of the association.
VIRGINIA ARTIST'S WORK CHOSEN FOR DUCK STAMP
A water color painting titled ‘‘Brant" submitted by Edward J. Bierly of Norton, was chosen as the design for the 1963-64 Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp. Bier ley’s work has frequently appeared on the cover of Virginia Wildlife magazine, the most' recent instance being the two bluejays which appeared on the November, 1962, cover.
To claim the honor of appearing on the 14th in the current series of Duck stamps, the design had to beat out 160 other entries
