The 1962 general reassesment of real estate in Rappahannock County shows an increase of $4,446,350.00 in (the fair market value of land and buildings. The Board of Assessors’ report filed December 31st increases the value over prior 6 year assessment from $14,023,150. to $18,469,500.00 The county board members are D. D. Miller, Washington, J. Rodes Brown, Sperryville, andT. V Williams, Castleton. Morton C. Bacon of Rose Hill, Va., assisted the board in the reassessment. Mr. Bacon is an independent appraiser recommended by the State Department of Taxation and was employed by the Board of Supervisors for that purpose. According to F. C. Forberg from the State Tax Dept., the 1962 increase of $4.5 million in the total county :land appraisals represents only 75% of the true market values.
