Commencement
At RCHS Friday es
Commencement exercises for the graduating class of Rappahannock County High School will be held. Friday evening, June 7, at 8'p.m, in the school auditorium. Diplomas will be presented the 49 seniors by O. A. Norton, Superintendent of Schools. Student speakers will be Sally Latham, Betty Kay Kilby, Tish Kilby and Alice Wood. ___

Spring Drought
A steady rain over the weekend has a lie via ted drought conditions in this area. According to Miss Ruby Jenkins, who maintains the official weather gauge in Washington, 1.84 inches fell.
Miss Jenkins said that this has been the driest spring here since she began keeping rainfall records in 1945. Figures for this spring are; January, .87; February, 1.33; March, 4.56* April, 1.35 and May, 1.45. Average monthly rainfall computed over an 18 year period is 3.01. In April 11947 the monthly rainfall was 1.12 inches and in April 1950 it was 1.02. May 1951 we had 1.32 and in May 1956 there' was 1.31. However we have not had two consecutive months the same year with such low precipitation.
Seven RCHS Seniors Pass Civil Service Exams
The National Bureau of Standards of the Department of Commerce administered the Civil Service Examination to some of the Commercial students of the Rappahannock County High School and the results were as follows; GS-4 - Elizabeth Smoot; GS-3 - Douglas Atkins, Ruby Dodson, Tommy Fincham; GS-2 - Roger L. Foster, Ray Scott, Peggie Smoot.
