RECREATION . . .
What Type Wanted?
| Questions are being asked 'regarding the Recreational Program being, planned by the Rappahannock Development Committee (see article page 3 Rapp’k News of May 16di).
First, this Committee felt the greatest need was for non-commercial recreation for local citizens. People of all ages tend to get bored when they don’t know how to entertain themselves or how to find entertainment. After retirement, senior citizens frequently get the feeling of not being wanted or not having pleasant pass - time activities. Often we hear middle-aged people say, “I wish I’d learned how to do such when a youngster but I’d be embarrassed now to make such an attempt.” When you were a youngster, the time you did your dirty work; weren’t they your idle times? The Committee has in mind commencing classes in recreation; perhaps four or six as a starter. What classes will depend upon what the public is interested in, will do, and who is available to teach others how. Adult classes must be self supporting and therefore a modest charge for instruction must be made. No charge will be made for youngsters. The Committee feels that some recreational classes need be taught by age groups. Thus in checking the “fact finder” below it may be well to report: whether you are of pre-teen age, teen age, from 20-35 years old. 35-60 or 60 plus. Send this information, along with your checked (✓) fact finder to Frank Louches or W. H. Lyne, Washington, Virginia. Time’s a flying so don’t delay.
